The world’s most important sporting event is being staged in Tokyo this year. The Olympics, expected more than ever after this complicated period, will also see our horse athletes in the field. The 3 equestrian disciplines scheduled for the Olympic Games will be Dressage, Complete Competition and Show Jumping.
The organization of a record-breaking event at the time of the pandemic
The equestrian sports of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games will debut at Bajy Koen Equestrian Park. In this complicated period due to Covid-19 and Equine Herpes Virus, the organizers have structured the athletes’ participation with a preventive quarantine that is both obligatory and useful for finishing training.
The tricolor flag on the Olympic ground
Italy will participate in the games in the 3 Olympic equestrian disciplines with the team for the Complete Competition and with 2 pairs as individuals for Dressage and Show Jumping.
These are the statements of Marco Di Paola Federazione Italiana Sport Equestri : “We face The Games of the XXXII Olympiad in Tokyo 2020 with great enthusiasm. Our athletes, horses and riders, have done an extraordinary job, interrupted by the forced stop due to the well-known vicissitudes that led to the postponement of the Games to 2021. It will be a very challenging trip, also from a logistical point of view, but I am sure that the Italian athletes will do their best to defend the Italian flag in such an important event that also takes on a symbolic meaning of restart for the whole world.”

Micheal Jung travels with Equissage
Micheal Jung, the German rider, is the reigning Olympic champion of Individual Complete Competition in Rio 2016 who won a gold medal. The athlete has been a member of the Equissage team for years and improves his horse’s performance with the Equissage massager by using it in the defatigue and warm-up phases.
“I am amazed every day at the versatility of using Niagara Equissage. I use it for warming up my horses and for their muscle relaxation after intense training sessions that, in the run-up to the Olympics, are the order of the day. I see the results on every horse and that makes me proud of my choice.”

McLain Ward and Martin Fuchs purify hay with Haygain
McLain Ward, a U.S. national team athlete who won 2 gold medals in the Team Show Jumping discipline at Athens 2004 and Beijing 2008, and Martin Fuchs, a young up-and-comer in the Swiss National Show Jumping team, steam hay for their horses with Haygain. Haygain hay steamer helps prevent respiratory problems and optimize horse perfomances.
“We have been steaming hay for a long time and cannot give up our Haygain purifier. It’s great for people who are away a lot; when you travel a lot for sporting competitions, you’re never sure of the quality of the hay, which is often very dusty. We keep the quality of the fiber we feed the horses high by removing dust and the most hidden harmful particles.”
McLain Ward
“The breath quality of our horses, engaged in international competitions and daily training, is significantly improved with the steamed hay, especially if there are small respiratory problems that need to be kept under control. The hay, after treatment, is even easier to chew and digest; this is a plus when we are away.”
